Khammam: A man allegedly hacked his wife to death at Colony Nacharam village of Enkoor mandal in the district on Friday.
According to police, the accused, Thati Rama Rao, married Govarshini of the same village after they fell in love and had three children. Govarshini was said to have been maintaining an extramarital affair with a youth, Akhil alias Adam, of the same village.
About eight months ago, she left her husband and children and went to live with Akhil. Rama Rao brought her home several times, but she kept going back to Akhil. Govarshini visited their daughter, who is studying at Paloncha in Kothagudem district, a couple of days ago.
Rama Rao then brought his wife back home. However, she refused to stay with him. In a fit of rage, Rama Rao attacked Govarshini with an axe on Friday morning while she was sleeping in the courtyard, killing her on the spot.
VM Banjar CI Muthilingam and Enkoor SI Sandhya visited the spot. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s mother, Enkoor police registered a case and launched an investigation.
