New Delhi: A 28-year-old man was shot dead in the early hours of Tuesday in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar, with police suspecting the attack may be linked to an earlier murder, an official said. The deceased, identified as Alam, sustained multiple gunshot injuries near a shop at New Sabzi Mandi in the TPT Nagar area at 1:45 am, he said. According to preliminary information, Alam was allegedly shot eight to ten times. He was rushed to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
After being alerted about the incident, a police team reached the spot where they found blood stains and empty cartridges, the officer said. The crime team also inspected the scene and collected evidence as part of the investigation. Police are probing whether the killing was carried out as an act of revenge for an earlier murder in the area.
Sources also said there were allegations that prostitution had been operating in the locality for several years and that the previous killing may have been connected to it. Police are verifying these claims as part of the investigation. A case has been registered and police are examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting and trying to establish the sequence of events leading to Alam’s
death. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the persons allegedly involved in the incident, the officer said. Further investigation is underway.
