Hyderabad: A 40-year-old man who got trapped between a lift and the wall in a three-storey building at Anjaneya Nagar, Moosapet, was rescued after an hours-long operation on Sunday.
The Hydraa DRF teams rescued Murali (40), who ended up with a fracture after his leg was crushed in the grill space between the second and third floors when the old grill-style lift moved upwards because of malfunctioning sensors.
The Hydraa, in a press release, said Murali and his wife had boarded the lift on the ground floor to reach the second floor. As he stepped out after it stopped, someone on the third floor pressed the lift button. The lift moved upwards while one leg of Murali was still inside and the other was on the second floor, leaving him wedged in the grill.
Residents alerted Hydraa’s control room at 9.15 am after initial rescue efforts failed. A Kukatpally DRF team led by Marshal JDV Prasad reached the building at 9.30 am and found Murali dangling inside the lift shaft.
The team broke through the lift wall and used a hydraulic cutter provided by Sanathnagar fire personnel. Murali was freed through rescue efforts and shifted to a nearby hospital.
