Hyderabad: A new city bus terminal will be constructed at the Uppal Zonal Workshop at an estimated cost of Rs 3.22 crore with the State government targeting completion within 100 days. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar laid the foundation stone for the project on Saturday.
The terminal, being developed with financial support from the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation, aims to ease commuting difficulties for residents of Uppal, Boduppal and Peerzadiguda. The facility is expected to accommodate around 1,053 bus trips daily, serving nearly one lakh passengers with improved amenities.
TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagireddy clarified that the new terminal would exclusively handle city bus services and district services to destinations such as Yadagirigutta, Warangal and the erstwhile Nalgonda district would continue operating from the existing Uppal bus station.
A dedicated bus pass counter and an enquiry centre would also be established at the new facility. The terminal is expected to improve connectivity from the surrounding localities to Secunderabad, Mehdipatnam, the IT corridor and Patancheru.
