After Kejriwal-Singapore saga, Punjab minister Aman Arora says he is denied ‘political clearance’ by Centre for study tour in Europe
Punjab minister Aman Arora, on Friday alleged that the Centre denied him political clearance for a Europe visit where he was slated to go on a knowledge-sharing study tour. Slamming the Centre, he said that the move shows the BJP-led government’s “narrow mindset”.
“My journey was stopped due to political reasons, the Center does not want the Delhi and Punjab governments to solve the problem of pollution. On the stubble burning issue, the central government highlights the shortcomings of the Punjab government, but does not allow to go to a place where the solution could be found,” Arora said, news agency PTI reported.
According to reports, Arora was slated to travel to Belgium, Netherlands and Germany between September 24-October 2. This comes days after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was denied permission by the Centre to visit Singapore to attend the World Cities Summit.
Punjab government convenes special session on September 27
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab decided to convene an Assembly session on September 27 to discuss issues like electricity and stubble burning. “We will go to Supreme Court against the cancellation of the Assembly session (by Governor),” Mann said.
A political war of words has been brewing between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the withdrawal of permission given by the Punjab Governor to conduct a special session of the Assembly to hold a ‘confidence motion’. AAP called a session alleging that the BJP was trying to ‘bribe’ the party’s Punjab MLAs in a bid to topple the newly-formed government in the state.
