Hyderabad: The AIFF Futsal Committee proposed that the AIFF Women’s Futsal Club Championship be conducted along with the men’s event.
The suggested dates for the tournaments have been set for the first week of June.
Mulrajsinh Chudasama chaired the meeting, which was attended by AIFF secretary general Anilkumar, and deputy chairperson Amit Deb, along with members Krishna Pada Sarkar, Palam Acharji, and Naresh Singh Rana.
“Futsal is growing rapidly in India, and we have seen an increasing excitement among the players to participate in competitive futsal. It is our intention to give them more games and exposure,” the committee said in a statement on Tuesday.
“As we start the AIFF Women’s Futsal Club Championship, it is our hope that the women’s futsal players will now get equal opportunities as the men. In the future, we want to see the top teams competing in the futsal league to bolster the growth of futsal in India,” Mulrajsinh said.
Hosting the AIFF Futsal Club Championship in June will help scout players for the futsal national team, which will participate in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, set to take place between September 16 and 24.
The committee also proposed that the AIFF could explore the possibility of initiating a futsal league from next year, as more states start conducting their own leagues at the state level.
