
Skywalk will be connected to the nearest commercial or residential complex, enabling people to safely cross main roads
Hyderabad: To facilitate safer pedestrian movement, every metro station in Hyderabad will have a skywalk that will be connected to the nearest commercial or residential complex, enabling people to safely cross main roads, HMRL, MD, NVS Reddy on Monday said.
As part of these efforts, a skywalk from Dr Ambedkar Balanagar Metro Station to the nearby Phoenix/Landmark Mall is under construction.
Similarly, Vasavi Group is constructing a skywalk from LB Nagar Station to the Vasavi Anandanilayam complex nearby. A total of 12 towers with 33 floors each are being constructed in Vasavi Anandanilayam complex spread over 25 acres. This skywalk will provide good facilities to many families who will be living there in large numbers.
A few companies are also in talks to construct such skywalks from several metro stations like Nagole, Stadium, Durgam Cheruvu, Kukatpally, L&T Metro MD, KVB Reddy in a press release said.
The Metro MD revealed that in all 57 stations of the first phase of Hyderabad Metro, there are facilities to reach from one side of the road to the other, which can be used not only by Metro passengers but also by the pedestrians. He appealed to the people to use these free and convenient facilities to cross the road safely.
