Hyderabad: With the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) starting from February 15, it’s anxious time for students and also for parents. The board has issued elaborate guidelines for the exams will go on for one month.
While Class 10th exams will be conducted from February 15 to March 18, Class 12th exams are scheduled from February 15 to April 4. Students and parents can also check the details on the official website of the board: cbse.gov.in.
Here are the guidelines
• 75% attendance is mandatory for students to be eligible to appear for CBSE Board Exams 2025.
• Students should carry admit card to the examination centre without which they will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
• The examination starts at 10.30 AM (IST).
• A sufficient gap has been given between two subjects generally offered by a student in both classes.
• The date of conduct of entrance examinations meant for the students of Class XII have been taken into consideration and efforts have been made to complete the examinations much before the entrance examinations. This will help the students in better time management for both Board and entrance examinations.
• Students must secure a minimum of 33 per cent marks to qualify for CBSE Board Exams 2025. Candidates will also have to score an overall of 33 per cent marks along with individually qualifying each subject.
• Regional offices will ensure that the marks of all the students are uploaded on Board’s portal by the last date. The syllabus of Class 10th and 12th is available on CBSE website www.cbseacademic.nic.in

Is it compulsory to write the answers in the same sequence as in the question paper?
CBSE: No, you may attempt those questions in the beginning which you know best. Make sure that you write correct answer number to each question
What is the passing criteria for Class 12th?
A candidate has to pass 05 subjects of external exam as per scheme of studies to be declared pass in addition to internal subject.
Is it mandatory to pass in Theory and Practical Exams separately in Class 12th?
Qualifying marks in each subject of the external exam are 33%. However, in a subject with practical works, one must obtain 33% marks in theory and 33% marks in practical separately in addition to 33% marks in aggregate, in order to qualify in that subject.
Does CBSE have any exemption for the differently abled candidates?

Is whitener allowed in board exams and can we use gel pen?
Use of whitener is not permitted. Yes, Blue or royal blue ink gel pens can be used.
Do examiners deduct marks for exceeding the word limit and spelling mistakes?
No marks are deducted for exceeding the word limit. Marks for spelling mistakes and other errors are deducted in the Language Papers.
Suppose I complete my paper before time and hand over the answer sheet and then realise that I have incorrectly answered one of the questions, can I take back my answer sheet and rewrite the answer?
Yes, you can request within the time limit but it is even better to hand over the answer sheet when the time is over to avoid such a situation
Do the marks increase or decrease after the process of verification of marks/re-evaluation?
The marks may increase or decrease after the process of verification of marks as per the actual marks obtained and the candidate will have to accept the revised result.
