Amrapali urged the devotees not to shower confetti and paper streamers during the procession as these make the job of cleaning tough for the sanitation staff.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, Amrapali Kata on Monday inspected the arrangements at Necklace Road and said all steps needed for smooth conduct of Ganesh idol immersion on Tuesday were in place.
To ensure the idol immersion was carried out without any hiccups, around 15,000 staff members and officials drafted from the civic body’s different wings of sanitation, engineering and others, were deployed round-the-clock in three shifts, she said.
Several coordination meetings with officials, festival committee members and other departments were held to plan and review the arrangements and address the shortfalls if any. These meetings were held at different levels – from zonal to the head office to ensure robust arrangements for devotees participating in the idol immersion processions.
Across the city, 10 control rooms apart from command control manned by additional commissioner level officers were operational in three shifts to monitor the situation. Arrangements for idol immersion have been made at 73 ponds and lakes across the city and so far, 468 cranes were in place.
