Ankita Bhandari murder: SIT arrests Uttarakhand revenue officer Vaibhav Pratap

The special investigation team (SIT) has arrested Uttarakhand revenue officer Vaibhav Pratap for dereliction of duty in the murder case of 19-year-old Uttarakhand receptionist Ankita Bhandari who was allegedly murdered by the resort owner Pulkit Arya.

The SIT arrested Vaibhav Pratap, Patwari of Ganga Bhogpur in the Ankita Bhandari murder case after a long interrogation.

The sub-inspector has been on leave since the incident on September 18.

Investigations in the Ankita Bhandari murder case have revealed that the main accused, Pulkit Arya, had met Patwari Vaibhav a day after the victim’s murder.

Patwari is the administrative officer in a village who is responsible for maintaining land records.

Vaibhav is the one with whom the complaint regarding Ankita’s missing was first filed. He has been suspended from his post (Patwari) following the accusations.

ANKITA BHANDARI MURDER CASE:

Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old receptionist at a resort near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, was allegedly killed by the resort owner and two of his accomplices.

The three accused, including resort owner Pulkit Arya, were arrested within 24 hours of the matter being handed over to the regular police force from revenue police on September 22, an official had said.

The accused had said they had pushed Bhandari into the Chilla canal on September 18 and her body was found on September 24.

The main accused Pulkit Arya is the son of former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vinod Arya, who was expelled by the party when Pulkit’s name cropped up in the case.
