Another complaint against SP Maurya in Ramcharitmanas row, this time in Delhi

Another complaint has been registered against Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya for speaking ill about the Hindu religious book ‘Ramcharitmanas’ and hurting the religious sentiments of those who believe in Sanatan Dharma.

The complaint was registered by the president of Mahadev Sena Pankaj Nanda at the Pashchim Vihar police station in New Delhi.

The complaint said for the past few days, TV channels and social media have been flooded with videos of Swami Prasad Maurya and his workers tearing the pages of the Ramcharitmanas — a book elucidating the life and times of Lord Ram–which has hurt the sentiments of Hindus and all those believe in Sanatan Dharma.

“Our Constitution guarantees us personal freedom and liberty…but hurting people’s religious sentiments is against the Constitution,” said the complaint.

In the complaint, Nanda accused the Samajwadi Party of supporting Swami Prasad Maurya’s stance on the Ramcharitmanas as the party awarded him by appointing him as the general secretary.

The complaint sought strict punishment against Maurya and asked the police to take steps to prevent such acts of blasphemy in future.

This comes days after an FIR was lodged against the Samajwadi Party leader and eight others in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior.

Meanwhile, a demonstration was taken out by a group of saints under the banner of All India Temple Math Committee in Kanpur as a mark of protest against Swami Prasad Maurya and his controversial statements against the Ramcharitmanas.

Protestors, accompanied by the mahant of Siddhnath temple, shouted slogans and burnt effigies of Swami Prasad Maurya. Describing Swami Prasad Maurya as Ravana, protestors pasted a picture of Maurya on a 10-headed effigy and set it on fire.

Mahant Chaitanya Arun Maharaj (Bal Yogi) of Siddhnath Temple said Ramcharitmanas is the best book in the world. “The comment made by him (Maurya) is very indecent. He is playing with the faith of Hindus and saints. We will not tolerate the insult to Ramchaitmanas.”

Mahant Jitendra Das of Panki Dham Temple said, “All of us have sent a letter to Samajwadi party’s national president Akhilesh Yadav demanding that Swami Prasad Maurya should be expelled from the party. We have also demanded Maurya’s arrest for his controversial remarks on the Ramcharitmanas.”

Swami Prasad Maurya stoked up a controversy after he alleged that on the basis of caste, and hence these should be banned.

Days later, Maurya tweeted against the heat he got for his remarks on Ramcharitmanas. Maurya had tweeted, “Recently, based on the statement given by me, some religious contractors have declared a reward to those who cut my tongue and head. If someone else would have said the same thing, they would have called him a terrorist.”
