Hyderabad: Another spotted deer was found dead on the University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus here on Saturday.
The deer reportedly died after falling into a lake while being chased by dogs.
Students, along with the Forest Department and university security officials who reached the spot, pulled the deer out.
This is the fourth deer death reported on the university campus within a span of 10 days after the State government cleared some part of the Kancha Gachibowli land, adjoining the UoH campus, which has a large number of spotted deer and other animals and birds.
Also, a huge Indian Rock Python, a Schedule 1 series, was spotted on the campus on Friday night.
“The Congress and its leaders, who claim that there is no wildlife on campus, should see this. Because of the deforestation that is being done, animals and reptiles are coming onto the roads. You can’t get away by stating everything as AI-generated,” said K Bala Krishna, research scholar and president of ABVP HCU, in a video with the python in the background.
On April 9, a spotted deer was reportedly found mauled to death on the varsity campus.
Earlier, a fawn was killed in an attack by feral dogs, which ripped apart the animal’s hind legs.
On April 4, a deer was attacked by a pack of dogs leaving it badly injured.
Though students and university security guards administered first aid and shifted it to the veterinary hospital, the deer could not survive.
