VIJAYAWADA: The state government has no right to use employees’ money from GPF, the AP Government Employees’ Association has said. “This is unlawful and the APGEA will move the high court for the safety and protection of the government employees’ money,” its president KR Suryanarayana said.
“The government should constitutionally manage the allocation of financial funds in the public account without diverting them to other purposes. The GPF money in the public account should be kept apart. The government should act as a banker to make payments when asked by the employees. Law says violation of the Constitution/GPF is a crime,” the APGEA said.
The association alleged that the government had withdrawn 480 crores without the permission of the client employees. “Finance officials said this was a technical error. An investigation is underway, and we are waiting for the report to file a police case,” it said.
Suryanarayana recalled that Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had stated in Parliament that 482 crores were drawn from employees’ accounts by the AP government. As for the recognition of unions, he urged the government to put a polling box in every office and facilitate a secret ballot method.
