Assam CM Himanta thanks Shinde camp for donation towards flood-relief efforts
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday thanked Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde for donating Rs 51 lakh towards the CM Relief Fund. Biswa said the contribution will go a long way in reaching out to the flood victims and ensuring relief in flood-affected areas of the state.
The Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in Assam and the Shiv Sena were earlier criticised for “dragging the Maharashtra political crisis into the state at a time when it was devastated by floods”.
Eknath Shinde along with the Shiv Sena MLas had arrived in Guwahati on June 22 from Surat in Gujarat. The political crisis in Maharashtra is now at a turning point after Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari called for a floor test to be conducted on Thursday.
