Attacks on women rose in TS, says Poonia

Reeling out some statistics, Poonia said, The BRS waxes eloquent about having benefited 4.18 lakh women between the ages of 18 and 20 under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. But surveys have established that 27.4 per cent of women are married before they reach the age of 18. Forty two percent of women are not educated in the state.

Hyderabad: Attacking the BRS for its failure in ensuring the welfare of women, AICC spokesperson Krishna Poonia said on Monday, “The BJP and the BRS are the same. They enact a drama of being separate but protect each other. While Manish Sisodia languishes in jail, the CM’s daughter Kavitha is free.”

Reeling out some statistics, Poonia said, “The BRS waxes eloquent about having benefited 4.18 lakh women between the ages of 18 and 20 under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. But surveys have established that 27.4 per cent of women are married before they reach the age of 18. Forty two percent of women are not educated in the state.”

A woman vexed by harassment by a BRS MLA is struggling for her life having attempted suicide in New Delhi. Disha, the veterinary student who was raped and murdered, did not get justice as the issue was covered up by the killing of accused. The accused in the death of medical student who ended her life due to ragging was protected by a minister, she alleged.

Speaking on the occasion, TPCC senior vice-president Mahesh Kumar Goud said, “Looks like KCR thinks taking care of Kavitha is welfare of all women. His first term did not have a woman member in the cabinet.”

Congress MLA Danasari Seethakka said, “Even Sabitha Indra Reddy who is the minister now was given a berth as she switched from Congress. The BJP at the Centre is not doing justice to the women wrestlers. Both BJP and the BRS are the same.”
