KT Rama Rao questioned the silence of BJP leaders on the issue, despite the involvement of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in the alleged scam
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao took a dig at Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, for his delayed response to the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scam in Telangana. He likened Sanjay’s reaction to “a friend finally showing up to a party they were called out for missing – awkward, compelled, and late.”
In a statement, Rama Rao questioned the silence of BJP leaders on the issue, despite the involvement of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in the alleged scam. He said Sanjay was acting out of compulsion now, after being silent on Revanth Reddy’s antics, indicating their precious ‘Ajab Prem ki Gajab Kahani’.
He pointed out that BJP MLA Alleti Maheshwar Reddy had earlier raised concerns about corruption in the AMRUT scheme, yet the BJP leadership, including Sanjay, had failed to act.
“You seem to have forgotten that you are the union Home Minister. AMRUT is your own Central government scheme. When your own MLA flagged corruption, why did you turn a blind eye?” he asked.
The BRS working president said the BRS exposed the entire scam with evidence, while the BJP leadership reacted only after the story grabbed public attention. He questioned the sincerity of Sanjay’s words, pointing out that the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) was an autonomous body and why would it need the union Minister’s recommendation to probe into the scam.
Rama Rao took a jibe at the union Minister, stating that the BJP was merely waiting for the next scandal to unfold before they took action. “It seems like you were waiting for the next scandal to join the fun. Who knows? We are all still trying to figure out ‘Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ between the BJP and Revanth Reddy,” he quipped.
