Bathukamma festival celebrated on grand scale at Cincinnati in US

The Bathukamma celebrations in Cincinnati on Saturday, saw participation from 350 Telugu speaking persons, who turned-up with their near and dear ones.

Hyderabad: Telugu speaking families, especially hailing from Telangana State and residing in Cincinnati, United States, gathered to take part in vibrant celebrations of Bathukamma festival with devotion and enthusiasm.

The Bathukamma celebrations, organised by Greater Cincinnati Telugu Association (Tarangini) and Greater Cincinnati Telangana Association (GCTA) at Mason High School (MHS), Cincinnati on Saturday, October 5, saw participation from 350 Telugu speaking persons, who turned-up with their near and dear ones.

Attired in their traditional best, women prepared Bathukammas with beautiful flower stacks that were arranged with different unique seasonal flowers. Girls and women in colorful sarees formed circles around Bathukammas and danced to melodious songs like Okkesi Puvvesi Chandamama, Chittu Chittula Bomma, Bathukamma Bathukamma Uyyalo etc.

Special prizes were awarded for both individual and group Bathukammas. Finally, as part of the tradition, all Bathukammas were immersed in water.

The members of Greater Cincinnati Telugu Association (Tarangini) including Chandra Madichetty, Praveen Palati, Hari Koduru, Kanthi Adapa and Reshma Khatib and Greater Cincinnati Telangana Association including Narasimha Rao Nagulavancha, Lavaker Boreddy, Ganesh Kota, Sitaram Boyinepally, Vish Gatla, Santosh Kethri, Suresh Devarakonda who played vital role in organizing Bathukamma celebrations in Cincinnati, thanked volunteers for the tireless hard work and dedication in making this year’s Dasara celebrations a grand success.
