Bike rider’s throat gets cut by nylon manja in Nirmal; four stitches save his life
Vilas from Vidyanagar in the town sustained the injury on his neck and suffered profuse bleeding when the thread cut his throat
Nirmal: A youngster riding a motorbike got his throat cut accidentally when a string of banned Chinese nylon manja got entangled on his neck while he was travelling in Khanapur on Monday.
Vilas from Vidyanagar in the town sustained the injury on his neck and suffered profuse bleeding when the thread cut his throat. He was initially admitted to a government hospital in Khanapur before being shifted to another hospital in Nirmal. He had to get four stitches on his neck after the injury.
With similar accidents becoming frequent during the kite-flying season with many people still using the banned Chinese nylon manja, police and NGOs have warned the public to be wary of loose strings of manja while traveling.
Bike riders have been asked to wear helmets and to wear a scarf around their neck to prevent the sharp thread from wrapping itself around the neck and causing grievous injuries. Car drivers have also been cautioned against leaving their sunroofs open.
