‘Blind hate for Modi…’: BJP-Congress lock horns as Uzbekistan claims Indian cough syrup killed 18 kids
Responding to Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’s remarks on ‘Made in India’ medicines in the context of 18 kids dying in Uzbekistan, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders fiercely criticised the Congress for going “blind in hatred for Modi.”
The Congress party on Thursday blasted the BJP-led federal government and demanded that the ruling party cease bragging about India being the world’s pharmacy in an effort to politicise the deaths of 18 children in Uzbekistan.
The grand old party alleged that children’s deaths in Uzbekistan and the Gambia were caused by cough syrup made in India and asked that the Centre take harsh measures against the maker.
“Made in India cough syrups seem to be deadly. First, it was the deaths of 70 kids in Gambia and now it is that of 18 children in Uzbekistan. Modi Sarkar must stop boasting about India being a pharmacy to the world & take the strictest action,” tweeted Jairam Ramesh.
Responding to this, Malviya also took to Twitter and said, “the death of children in Gambia had nothing to do with the consumption of cough syrup made in India. That has been clarified by the Gambian authorities as well as DCGI. But blinded in its hate for Modi, Congress continues to deride India and its entrepreneurial spirit. Shameful…”
Jairam Ramesh was accused by BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala of spreading false information, “When hate for BJP transmutes into hate for India. Jairam Ramesh is peddling fake news and even Gambian authorities and Indian authorities have rejected the claims. For some, attacking India, undermining forces, peddling fakery is important merely because they hate one man and party.”
