Bragging About Murder, Calling Ramdev ‘King Of Adulterators’ And Other Controversies Of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh
BJP MP from Kaiserganj and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been in the eye of the storm over the protests by some of India’s best wrestlers demanding his arrest for alleged sexual assault of female athletes, including minors is still brazening it out.
Despite the growing calls for his arrest and a warning by United World Wrestling (UWW), the sport’s governing body, that WFI could face suspension, Brij Bhushan continues to deny the charges and dares the protesting wrestlers to provide evidence to back their claims.
Even when he is facing unprecedented protests and allegations, the BJP and the Modi government have thrown their weight behind the strongman from UP.
That is because many believe that BJP needs Brij Bhushan in 2024 more than he needs the party.
Even before the wrestlers’ protest, the 66-year-old former wrestler from Gonda has made headlines for the wrong reasons.
Brij Bhushan once faced as many as 38 cases against him under various charges, including theft, rioting, murder, criminal intimidation, attempt to murder, kidnapping etc.
The first high-profile incident that Brij Bhushan got involved in was the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. He was allegedly involved in the demolition of Babri Masjid and was arrested. He was, however, acquitted in the case in 2020.
