
A student sustained severe head injuries when two students clash with each other during a volleyball match at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Residential College in Khanapur town
Nirmal: A student sustained injuries allegedly when two students from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Residential College clashed with another over some petty issue in Khanapur town on Sunday. His medical condition was learnt to be stable.
Tharun, studying Intermediate first year, received head injuries when Thanay, an Intermediate second year hit him following a tiff over rules of a volleyball match held in the college on Saturday evening. He was admitted to a government hospital in Khanapur town. Tharun and Thanay represent two volleyball teams, sources said.
On receiving information, Tharun’s parents arrived at the college and expressed concern over the safety of students. They requested the officials to take steps to prevent recurrence of similar incidents in future.
Khanapur police said that no case was registered yet. However, it was learnt that police visited the college and made inquiries into the incident. Officials of the college said that measures were being taken to avoid clashes between students.
