The Hyderabad MET department’s forecast, issued on Friday, did not have a mention of heavy rainfall till next Thursday, June 5, 2025
Hyderabad: After a long spell of extensive and heavy rainfall covering almost all regions in Telangana, weather agencies are now forecasting light to moderate showers at a few places, a shift from the heavy rains experienced for nearly two-weeks. The Hyderabad MET department’s forecast, issued on Friday, did not have a mention of heavy rainfall till next Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Daytime temperatures are also expected to change with the Met department indicating that they will now hover between 36 degree C and 40 degree C, and are not expected to remain below 36 degree Celsius. However, the weather department has issued a yellow alert (moderate intensity) of only gusty winds (30 to 40 kmph) for most parts of Telangana districts until June 5, 2025.
The IMD-Hyderabad’s Friday forecast follows a long spell of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, which were active in the first three-weeks of May, followed by the arrival of Southwest Monsoons in the last week of the month.
Throughout May, the Hyderabad MET department had consistently issued heavy rainfall warnings, in addition to alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. While May is typically known for its heat waves, no such warning was issued this year due to continuous activity of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and subsequently the onset Southwest Monsoons in the last week of May.
