Bride’s kin attack in-laws over inter-community marriage in Telangana’s Sangareddy

A Sangareddy family’s opposition to an inter-community marriage turned violent when the bride’s father and brother attacked her in-laws and set a shed ablaze at Kakkeravada village. Police have launched an investigation

Sangareddy: Family members of a girl, who married a man from another community, attacked her husband’s father and brother, and set a shed on fire at Kakkeravada village in Jharasangam mandal on Monday. They also attempted to set the house ablaze.

According to Jharasangam Sub-Inspector Kranthi Kumar Patil, Boini Radhakrishna, son of Boini Ramulu, married Mounika, daughter of Golla Vittal, against her parents’ wishes on October 23. The couple was living elsewhere, fearing an attack from Mounika’s family.

On Monday, Mounika’s father Vittal and her brother Pandu reportedly argued with Ramulu and his elder son Nagesh over the marriage issue. During the altercation, they attacked the duo and set a shed located on their premises on fire. The family had stored cotton in the shed, which was completely gutted.

Ramulu sustained bleeding injuries in the assault. Following information, a fire tender rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames. The police registered a case and began investigation.
