BRS leader V Srinivas Goud urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to lead an all-party delegation to Delhi and press Prime Minister Narendra Modi for necessary approvals
Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS leader V Srinivas Goud called on the State government to intensify efforts for completing the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS). He urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to lead an all-party delegation to Delhi and press Prime Minister Narendra Modi for necessary approvals.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Srinivas Goud stated that the project would irrigate 12 lakh acres and alleviate water scarcity in the region. He criticised the Centre for rejecting the Detailed Project Report (DPR), following baseless complaints filed by the Andhra Pradesh government of filing baseless complaints with the Krishna Tribunal to stall progress.
The former Minister reminded that environmental clearances were issued for the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project during the BRS regime. He emphasised the need for cooperation between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on water sharing, particularly regarding the Srisailam project. He accused the Congress government of neglecting the Palamuru region, causing large-scale migration, and failing to complete essential infrastructure projects. He said the BRS would join hands with farmers’ associations to intensify protests to demand the project’s completion.
