BRS demands to know whereabouts of Kaushik Reddy, protests at Karimnagar police station
This comes after the legislator was arrested in Hyderabad at around 7.30 pm, but was not brought to the Karimnagar one town police station even after 11 pm
Karimnagar: BRS leaders and activists staged a protest in front of the Karimnagar one town police station demanding that the police reveal the whereabouts of Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy.
The Karimnagar police arrested Kaushik Reddy in Hyderabad on Monday evening in connection with a case registered against him for entering into an argument with Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar and brought him to Karimnagar.
Knowing that the Huzurabad legislator would be brought to the one town police station, BRS leaders and workers gathered at the station at night.
Though the legislator was arrested in Hyderabad at around 7.30 pm, he was not brought to the police station even after 11 pm. So, the BRS activists asked the police about his whereabouts.
As the police refused to divulge any details, they raised slogans against the Telangana government and found fault with it for registering illegal cases against the MLA. When they tried to stage a dharna by sitting on the road, the police took them into custody.
BRS town president Challa Harishankar, Raghuveer Singh and a few others were arrested.
On the other hand, the police made arrangements to bring Kaushik Reddy to the one town police station to take his signatures before producing him before the judge.
Instead of taking him to the station, the police took him to the Karimnagar City Police Training Centre, a police source said.
