BRS leaders Krishank, Dileep Konatham grilled for nine hours in UoH case at Gachibowli police station

The duo, summoned for their social media posts in support of protesting UoH students, charged the Congress government with political vendetta and intimidation tactics

Hyderabad: BRS social media convenor Krishank Manne and former digital media director Dileep Konatham were questioned for over nine hours at the Gachibowli police station on Wednesday in connection with their posts against the destruction of green cover in the land abutting the University of Hyderabad (UoH) at Kancha Gachibowli.

Cases were filed accusing them for allegedly using AI-generated videos and images in their posts to mislead and spread misinformation.

The duo, summoned for their social media posts in support of protesting UoH students, charged the Congress government with political vendetta and intimidation tactics.

Notably, Krishank appeared in a black shirt with the message ‘deMockRRacy’, aimed at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Sources said the police had planned to search their homes for their phones, without a warrant or prior notice, but backtracked after the issue was reported in news channels and social media. Notices were served asking Krishank to appear again on April 14.

Speaking to the media, Dileep Konatham said they will not be intimidated by such illegal cases and will continue their fight against the Congress government for its false promises.

“We are on the side of truth. The Congress government is resorting to illegal intimidation. Let them explain what is false in our posts about the Kancha Gachibowli land issue,” he dared.

Krishank said the entire process lacked seriousness. “We appeared before the police at 11 am as summoned, but were asked to wait till 1 pm. After asking two questions, we waited another six hours. Then, we were handed 72 repetitive queries, which we answered,” he said.

He questioned why a Dalit leader like him was summoned for next questioning on April 14 which is on Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti and also a court holiday.

Slamming the government over environmental destruction, Krishank asked that if posting images of dead deer is a crime, why not act against those responsible for destroying their habitat.

They vowed to continue questioning the Congress government over its 420 promises, the Kancha Gachibowli land scam and the  misuse of the State power.
