Hyderabad: BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar on Wednesday appealed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Director General of Police (DGP) to revoke the dismissal of 10 special police constables, calling the action harsh and unjustified.
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, Praveen Kumar said the constables were dismissed without a proper investigation, despite there being no property damage or misconduct by the personnel or their families.
The protest by the constables, he explained, was over reduced leave and the government’s failure to implement the promised ‘One Police’ policy. Following the protest — which saw even the constables’ wives, including pregnant women, taking to the streets — the government suspended 39 personnel and dismissed 10 from service.
“These constables are not criminals or wealthy people. Ten families have been pushed to the brink for merely raising their voices,” he said, demanding their immediate reinstatement.
The former IPS officer criticised Ministers and officials for ignoring appeals from the affected families due to political differences. He reiterated that the BRS was extending support on humanitarian grounds, not for political gain.
