
Battula Prabhakar, a wanted criminal allegedly involved in several house burglary cases, sneaked into Prism Pub and opened fire with a countrymade pistol, injuring Madhapur CCS Head Constable Venkatrami Reddy
Hyderabad: A police constable was injured after a suspected criminal opened fire on a police team, which went to nab him, at a popular pub in Financial District, Gachibowli, on Saturday night.
As per available information, Battula Prabhakar, a wanted criminal who was allegedly involved in several house burglary cases, sneaked into Prism Pub.
A team from the Madhapur Central Crime Station (CCS), which was chasing him, also reached the pub around 8 pm.
In an attempt to nab Prabhakar, the CCS police warned him to surrender and tried to nab him.
However, in an attempt to escape, Prabhakar opened fire with a countrymade pistol, injuring Madhapur CCS Head Constable Venkatrami Reddy. The bullet pierced into his thigh.
The Gachibowli police reached the spot, took Prabhakar into custody and shifted him to the police station.
Meanwhile, Venkatrami Reddy was shifted to Continental Hospital for treatment. The Gachibowli police are investigating.
