Kamareddy: Police have registered cases against six farmers and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) workers on charges of obstructing the movement of the convoy of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya’s at Ramareddy mandal here on Thursday. The protesting farmers were demanding quick disbursement of paddy bonus and ensure timely procurement.
The Minister fumed at the farmers and BRS leaders for stopping her convoy while she was on her way to offer condolences to mountaineer Malavath Poorna, who recently lost her father.
Seethakka slammed the farmers and BRS leaders and accused them of being in an inebriated condition and trying to stop her convoy.
Though they appealed to her to hear their grievances, an angry Seethakka left the spot immediately. “Who will be responsible if any untoward incident happens? These people should have some sense,” the Minister argued.
She claimed that Rs.9,000 crore had been deposited into farmers’ accounts in nine days under Rythu Bharosa and the Congress government was providing all support to the farming community.
Amidst these claims, the Ramareddy police registered cases against farmers and BRS leaders, including local leader P Srinivas, former MPP Dasharath Reddy, Uppalvai former Sarpanch and farmer K Gangaram, farmer K Baldev Anjaiah and another farmer Maipal Rajaiah, according to reports.
