      IBM, Airtel join hands to power Indian enterprises in 5G era

      Mumbai: As India prepares for the 5G roll-out, Cloud major IBM and Bharti Airtel announced to deploy Airtel’s edge computing platform in the country, which will include 120 network data centres across 20 cities.       Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, in a note, has questioned the sustainability and implications of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. He argued that the government should collate more evidence before rolling out the scheme for more sectors.  The economist argued that the PLI scheme stems from the premise that India manufactures too little.       Infosys Warns Employees on Moonlighting, ‘Two Timing’ May Lead to Termination of Job

      IT major Infosys Ltd has warned its employees against moonlighting, saying that the practice may result in termination of the contract of the employee as it is against the company’s rules. In an internal post, the homegrown IT company said that dual employment will not be allowed per Infosys’s code of conduct. This comes amid an IT crackdown on the practice of taking up a second job, with Wipro warning its employees weeks prior to Infosys’s letter.       Mensa Brands acquires MyFitness, to make it Rs 1,000 cr brand

      New Delhi: Direct-to-consumer (D2C) company Mensa Brands on Monday said it has acquired healthfood startup MyFitness for an undisclosed sum, with an aim to make it a Rs 1,000 crore brand in the next three-four years. The acquisition will help Mensa Brands launch new categories, scale D2C, invest in brand-building and expand to global markets. “MyFitness is a fast-growing consumer-loved brand and we will scale the brand to have an omni-channel global presence by leveraging our tech-led playbook.       Mumbai: Reliance Capital bidders have sought an extension of time for submission of binding bids. According to sources, Piramal Finance has sought extension by 12 weeks, while Advent has sought time till January 30, 2023, i.e., 16 weeks extension for submission of binding bid, as the company has not yet done due diligence. There are other bidders also who have sought a similar extension of timeline for filing of binding bids.       Automobile sales in India jump by 17 per cent in August: SIAM

      New Delhi: Automobile sales in India jumped by 17 per cent year-on-year in August led by healthy growth in passenger vehicle sales, as per data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday. Overall automobile sales rose to 18,77,072 units in August 2022 as against 15,94,573 units sold in August 2021. As per the SIAM data, passenger vehicle sales registered a growth of 21 per cent. Passenger vehicle sales rose to 2,81,210 units in August 2022 as against 2,32,224 units sold in August 2021.       Mumbai: Benchmark indices began the trade on a firm note on Friday, extending their previous day gain, amid foreign fund inflows and a positive trend in global markets.       Rupee rises 8 paise to 79.61 against US dollar in early trade

      Mumbai: The rupee appreciated 8 paise to 79.61 against the US dollar in opening trade on Friday, tracking the dollar’s decline versus its major peers and foreign fund inflows. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 79.66 against the dollar, then touched 79.61 in initial deals, registering a gain of 8 paise over its previous close.       China sees heavy early demand for iPhone 14 despite Covid measures

      Hong Kong: Despite Covid-10 control measures in place in several cities, Chinese vendors are witnessing heavy demand for new Apple iPhone 14 series. According to South China Morning Post, one Apple vendor in Shenzhen district said he has seen heavy early demand for the iPhone 14. “Vendors in Huaqiangbei market in the southern tech hub of Shenzhen are gearing up for strong sales of the iPhone 14, with price mark-ups of up to 2,000 yuan ($255) expected,” the report mentioned.
