Deepfakes of Idris Elba and Kim Kardashian on ITV raise alarm for actors
Idris Elba is furious. His upstairs neighbour, Kim Kardashian, has been sunbathing for hours on the carefully-manicured lawn of their shared garden in Catford, south east London. Before long, the dispute escalates: Idris and Kim come to blows, hurling pots of coriander over a paddling pool in the driveway. If this scenario seems surreal, that’s because it is. These are not the real Idris Elba and Kim Kardashian, but rather AI-generated avatars in ITV’s new comedy series, Deep Fake Neighbour Wars. The programme, which also features computer-generated versions of Greta Thunberg, Harry Kane, Mark Zuckerberg and Adele, uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to map the likenesses of celebrities onto the faces of actors. In some cases, it is eerily accurate. ITV’s show is the most prominent use of so-called “deep fake” technology on mainstream TV – a kind of Spitting Image for the TikTok generation. While trailblazing, ITV’s use of the…

James Cameron admits ‘Jack might have lived in Titanic’
Director James Cameron is still pondering over the numerous possibilities of the film ‘Titanic’, even after it hit the theatres 25 years ago. The 1997 film’s director commissioned a scientific study to determine if there really was enough room for both Jack and Rose DeWitt Bukater (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, respectively) to fit on the ever-debated floating door after the Titanic sank in the Oscar-winning blockbuster, reported People. A first look into the National Geographic special about the study, ‘Titanic: 25 Years Later with James Cameron, premiered on Good Morning America’, where the director allowed his fans to have a peek into his thought process. Whether Jack could have survived had he joined Rose on the floating piece of debris, Cameron and a team of scientists hired two stunt doubles to re-enact four different scenarios. At one point in the clip, both Jack and Rose are halfway on…

Taylor Lautner opens up on body image issues after ‘Twilight’
Hollywood actor Taylor Lautner was left with body image issues after starring in ‘Twilight’. The 30-year-old actor spent his formative years playing shapeshifter Jacob Black in the series of vampire films based on the books by Stephanie Meyer. The actor explained that he was later “affected” by having to appear shirtless so often on screen, reports Female First UK. He said: “When I was in it, when I was 16 through 20 years old, I was starring in this franchise where my character is known for taking his shirt off every other second. No, I did not know that it was affecting me or that it was going to affect me in future with body image. In the first movie, I was 140 lbs and in ‘New Moon’ I was 175, so that wasn’t my natural body. And I had to work hard for it, and I had to work very,…

Dave Bautista says he’ll never return to Drax just to collect a Marvel paycheck
Hollywood star Dave Bautista means it when he says ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ will be his final outing as Drax the Destroyer. During a recent visit on ‘The Tonight Show’, the actor stuck to his guns about exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe and questioned why it’s still news at this point, reports ‘Variety’. “Yeah, it’s weird. I don’t know why it’s news,” Bautista said. “This is my seventh film as Drax. And my third ‘Guardians’ (movie). It was like our trilogy. That’s kind of what we all signed up for, to do a trilogy. And I think this will be the last version of our ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.'” For Bautista, writer-director James Gunn has crafted the “perfect exit” for his character. It’s so perfect in fact that Bautista said coming back to Marvel as Drax would “tarnish” the character. Not even a big Marvel paycheck would warrant…

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish review – Gorgeous animation with Banderas and zippy action
The second solo adventure for Antonio Banderas’s ginger Zorro grossed $309million before it even opened in the UK. Not bad for the follow-up to a Shrek spin-off from 11 years ago. This time, Puss must forgo the senoritas, the swashbuckling and the full-fat milk swilling due to an accident at work. After defeating a rampaging troll, a falling church bell cuts short the showboating. When he comes round, the doctor informs him he has just exhausted eight of his nine lives. “My prescription?” the doc says. “No more adventures for you. You need to retire.” So our once-carefree hero ditches his floppy hat and boots to wander naked into Mama Lana’s Cat Rescue for a life of tasteless cat biscuits and smelly litter trays. But he’s back on his paws after discovering a map to a magical meteorite that could restore his nine lives and his mojo. Forming a triple act with…
