Boris Becker ‘reunites with mum for first time since being freed from jail’
The three-time Wimbledon champion, 55, was said on Wednesday (21.12.22) by several news outlets to have visited his 87-year-old mother Elvira with his risk analyst girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro in Leimen, Germany, a day after he opened up in an interview with German TV how being able to call her from prison helped keep him sane. His mum, who he was said to have immediately hugged when they were reunited, had previously declared about their relationship: “We’ve always got along well. No matter what happens – he is and will always be my son.” Boris was released from prison on December 15 and immediately deported to his native Germany under an early release scheme, and is barred from returning to Britain. A friend of Elvira’s told The Sun she said of the news he was being freed in time for the festive holiday: “The best Christmas present I could…

Emily In Paris season 3 review: Lilly Collins’ Netflix show is still all fluff, all cheese, all fun
Emily In Paris 3 review: Darren Star’s show lacks women of agency, clarity, and depth. It still manages to become a fun but superficial watch with its cheerfulness, and the diverse representation. Emily In Paris 3 released on Netflix and it can be best described as cheese croissants for the mind – feels rich while you have it, but health benefits are still questionable. Created by Darren Star of Sex and The City fame, Emily In Paris lacks women of agency, clarity, and depth. Yet the chirp, the colourful French backdrop, and the diverse representation together make it a fun albeit superficial watch. Emily In Paris is about an American woman (Emily Cooper, essayed by Lilly Collins) who moved to Paris for a short work assignment but discovered love, life, and her own self in the city, and then decided to stay on. The first two seasons showcased how she navigates around the…

Next James Bond race grinds to a halt as Tom Hardy loses out to newcomer
No Time To Die hit cinemas last year and brought a brutal end to Daniel Craig‘s era of James Bond film series. After 15 years and five movies, the British star finally moved on after his version of the hero was killed off. Now, the hunt is on for a new actor to embody 007 for the foreseeable future. The official announcement will likely come in the next couple of years; and while Tom Hardy has been a relative favourite in the Bond odds for some time, he may have missed his chance. Hardy has become a fan favourite in the past few years, especially after rumours hit that he had already been cast as the super spy behind-the-scenes. The Venom star has been quizzed about becoming Bond in recent years, however, he is adamant he will be staying quiet. He said: “You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship…

Luther: Netflix movie gets title, plot and new images showing Idris Elba in unexpected location
Idris Elba has returned as John Luther in the first look at a film based on the BBC series. Netflix has announced the title of a new film that will reunite audiences with the grizzled detective. The streaming service also shared images from the film, which will be released in March 2023. Creator Neil Cross has written the script, with Jamie Payne directing. It will follow on from the BBC drama, which last aired in January 2019. Titled Luther: The Fallen Sun, the film will, unsurprisingly to fans, follow “a gruesome serial killer” who is “terrorising London”. Luther, who is in prison, is still haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him and “decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary”. This journey will seemingly take Luther to a snowy mountain range, with one image showing the character in a rather different location than viewers are…

Harvey Weinstein convicted on three charges of rape, sexual assault
Harvey Weinstein was convicted on three charges of rape and sexual assault. But in a split verdict, the jury acquitted him of one other charge and could not reach a unanimous verdict on three other counts, reports ‘Variety’. The jury convicted Weinstein of raping an Italian model, identified at the trial as Jane Doe #1, at the Mr. C hotel in February 2013. The jury acquitted him of the felony sexual battery of a massage therapist, identified as Jane Doe #3. And they were split on charges involving two other accusers — Jennifer Siebel Newsom and Lauren Young. The jurors voted 10-2 to convict him on a charge of sexual battery against Young; and 8-4 in favor of conviction on charges of rape and forcible oral copulation of Siebel Newsom. Judge Lisa B. Lench declared a mistrial on the three charges on which the jury was deadlocked. District Attorney George Gascon…

‘Avatar’ director tells Matt Damon ‘get over it’ on him losing money on saying no to film
James Cameron is not very happy with the whole Matt Damon episode. We are talking of Matt Damon revealing that he regrets rejecting ‘Avatar’ as he had other engagements at the time and lost on a lot of money. Matt turned down a role in the James Cameron film even though the director offered him 10% of the film’s box office profits. ‘Avatar’ went on to gross over $2 billion worldwide and become the highest-grossing movie of all time (unadjusted for inflation). This would mean that Matt Damon would have earned about $250 million and plus. When Matt spoke of rejecting Avatar, he said, “I will go down in history. You will never meet an actor who turned down more money.” James Cameron was thus asked for his comment on Matt’s statement. The director laughed and said, “He’s beating himself up over this. And I really think you know, ‘Matt…

‘My life as I knew it has been destroyed’: Heard ends legal fight against Depp
She said that she will not be going ahead with a planned appeal after their trial in the US. In an Instagram post, the actress said that she came to the decision after “a great deal of deliberation” and that she never “chose this”. The post said: “I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it has been destroyed. “The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways in which women are re-victimised when they come forward. “Now I finally have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to.” The actress added that this post is not an admission of any actions, and “not an act of concession”. The decision comes less than a month after Heard sought to appeal against the verdict in her legal battle…
