I won’t watch House of the Dragon, says Emilia Clarke
The 36-year-old actress is best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in ‘Game of Thrones’ – but Emilia can’t bring herself to watch the prequel series. She said: “It’s too weird. I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards … I just can’t do it. It’s so weird. It’s so strange.” Emilia likened watching the show to attending a school reunion. Speaking to Variety, she explained: “It’s kind of like someone saying, ‘You want to go to this school reunion that’s not your year? Want to go to that school reunion?’ That’s how it feels. I’m avoiding it.” Kit Harington, who starred alongside Emilia in ‘Game of Thrones’, previously admitted that he also felt anxious about watching the prequel series. Idris Elba plans for another man to take over Luther role ‘like in James Bond’
Idris has given plans to play James Bond the Elba – but he won’t be handing in his licence to thrill. Idris is following up on the massive success of Luther on TV with a film version out in March. In Luther: The Fallen Sun the skilled but disgraced detective breaks out of jail to catch a serial killer who is terrorising London. The cast includes Andy Serkis, who was Gollum in The Lord of the Rings films, as millionaire villain David Robey, who watches and manipulates others via tech surveillance. East Londoner Idris said: “It’s not a competition but I reference Bond as a template for the type of film we’re going for. “John is a leading character in a film that he’s the hero of. That’s the comparison I’m making. “But my…

Broker movie review: The film is leavened by Hirokazu Koreeda’s light touch
How a child leaves almost no one untouched lies at the heart of this deeply humane story about people battling different kinds of loneliness, all on their own. Directed by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda (Shoplifters), it features two men who run a side business selling abandoned children to parents who desperately want one; a young mother who leaves her newborn and is committedly dispassionate towards him; two women cops trailing them who want to crack the case for a leg-up professionally; and a woman coming to terms with her husband’s infidelity. They all find themselves connected with each other through Woo-sung. The infant is left by his mother So-young (Ji-eun Lee) outside a church in the baby boxes put up for women who want to similarly abandon kids. Watched by the two cops (the elder, resigned one played by Bae Doona; the younger, more flexible one by Lee Joo-young), a…
