French publisher arrested in London on terrorism charge
A French publisher has been arrested on terror charges in London after being questioned by UK police about participating in anti-government protests in France. He was questioned for six hours and then arrested for alleged obstruction in refusing to disclose the passcodes to his phone and computer. His treatment was condemned as an attack on the right to demonstrate, amid calls for protests outside the UK embassy in Paris and French Institute in London. SC to examine if same-sex weddings can be permitted under Special Marriage Act, but will steer clear of personal laws
The Supreme Court bench hearing petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriages Tuesday said it will steer clear of the area of personal laws but will only examine if the right can be conferred under The Special Marriage Act (SMA), 1954. Crucially, in response to an argument that the “legislative intent” of marriage throughout has been a “relationship between a biological man and a biological female”, the apex court underlined that “there is no absolute concept” of a man or woman. European Commission humanitarian chief reportedly shot in violent clashes in Sudan
European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office Head Fransen reportedly has been shot during clashes in Khartoum, Sudan. Fierce fighting broke out between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday in which at least 185 people have been killed and 1800, including combatants, have been wounded. Saturday saw fighting in the capital and other parts of the country as the army struck a base belonging to the RSF in the city of Omdurman, outside Khartoum. NIA takes over probe into attack on Indian mission in London
Special team of the NIA may visit London ‘very soon’ NIA logo New Delhi: Nearly a month after the national flag at the Indian high commission in London was pulled down during a protest by pro-Khalistan activists, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case to investigate the matter, sources said. India records 7,633 new coronavirus infections, 11 deaths
According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday active cases now comprise 0.14 per cent of the total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.68 per cent New Delhi: India has recorded 7,633 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have increased to 61,233, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The death toll has increased to 5,31,152 with 11 deaths.
