Rainfall deficit threatens Kharif season in 10 Telangana districts
Telangana is facing a rainfall deficit in 10 districts, with paddy sowing at just 8.02% of the normal area. Though maize and cotton show better progress, the Kharif season remains uncertain with limited rainfall forecast in the coming weeks Hyderabad: Rainfall deficit being experienced in ten of its 33 districts is raising alarm for the state’s agricultural sector. It is likely to cast shadow on the Kharif prospects with paddy sowing standing at less that nine per cent of the seasons normal as on July 9. ACB traps Panchayatraj AE in Peddapalli
Panchayati Raj Assistant Engineer Jagadish was caught red-handed by ACB officials while accepting a Rs. 90,000 bribe in Kalvasrirampur mandal. He had demanded the amount from a contractor to clear CC road work bills. A trap was laid based on a complaint Peddapalli: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught Panchayati Raj Assistant Engineer Jagadish red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 90,000 at Gangaram village in Kalvasrirampur mandal on Saturday. According to ACB officials, Jagadish, posted at the Kalvasrirampur Panchayati Raj office, had demanded the bribe from a contractor, Raju, for clearing bills related to CC road works. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the contractor approached the ACB, which laid a trap and caught the engineer while he was accepting the money.
