The government has amended its notification under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act (EPA), 1986, mandating that only cotton thread—free from sharp, metallic, or glass components, adhesives, or any strengthening materials—be used for kite flying. Bengaluru: Accepting animal-lovers’ suggestions, the Karnataka government has banned the use of metal or glass-coated string or manja for flying kites to curb harm to humans, birds, and the environment, a statement said on Monday. Rupee falls 4 paise to hit all-time low of 84.11 against US dollar

Four electrocuted while installing flexi banner in Andhra’s East Godavari
Incident occurred while making arrangements for the unveiling of social reformer Sardar Sarvarai Papanna Goud’s statue Tadiparru: Four men were electrocuted here on Monday while tying a flexi banner around a social reformer’s statue. The incident occurred at Tadiparru village in East Godavari district on Monday morning. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the death of four youngsters due to electrocution while making arrangements for the unveiling of social reformer Sardar Sarvarai Papanna Goud’s statue, an official statement said.
