Snake interrupts play during second IND-SA T20I

The second T20I between India and South Africa had to be stopped after a snake invaded the cricket field, however, the match was resumed after a couple of minutes. While there were expectations of rain during the match, it was the snake who took the all highlights in the seventh over of India’s innings as the match was put on hold temporarily. During the match, a couple of South African players pointed it out to KL Rahul and the on-field umpires. The ground staff then rushed in with the necessary equipment and sorted the problem in a couple of minutes. The players, meanwhile, took unofficial drinks to break. The incident took place during the starting of the seventh over of the innings.…

England in Pakistan: Dawid Malan guides tourists to Twenty20 series win

Dawid Malan thumped an unbeaten 78 to help England to a comprehensive 67-run win over Pakistan in the seventh Twenty20 international to take the series 4-3. Having been asked to bat first in Lahore, England piled on the runs with Malan making Pakistan pay for dropping him on 29 and 62 as he lifted the visitors to 209-3. Harry Brook’s fine form continued as he made 46 not out from 29 balls – having been dropped on 24 – in an unbroken stand of 108 with Malan. Babar Azam was responsible for two of those dropped catches and could not atone with the bat, falling to Chris Woakes in the first over of the chase. Reece Topley bowled Mohammad Rizwan…

India eye another series win even as concerns loom over

India may be sitting comfortably on a 1-0 lead but between the long journey across the diagonal from Trivandrum to Guwahati, they’ve come face to face with the growing possibility that talisman Jasprit Bumrah might not be available for the World Cup, or at least for parts of it. Disappointing as the news of the injury might be, India has had a taste of what it is to play without their pace ace. Bumrah has featured in only 5 of the 33 T20Is India has played since the last T20 World Cup. Arshdeep Singh, whose young shoulders are set for a load far greater than one envisaged, has shown that he is up for a challenge, at either end of…

IND vs SA, 1st T20I: Rahul, Suryakumar help India beat South Africa by 8-wickets

Vice-captain KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav slammed unbeaten fifties to give India an eight-wicket win over South Africa in the T20I series opener at the Greenfield International Stadium on Wednesday. On a pitch which was made for fast bowlers to make merry, as seen from the five-wicket burst provided by Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar earlier in the match, South Africa bowlers too were able to take out Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early. With the required run rate not much high, Rahul hung in and with Suryakumar in stellar touch, they put on an unbeaten stand of 93 off 63 balls to chase down 107 with 18 balls remaining, giving India 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Muralitharan, Kirmani slam Deepti for Lord’s dismissal

Ravichandran Ashwin may have called all-rounder Deepti Sharma brave and hailed her presence of mind for being the first woman cricketer to run out a batter at the non-striker’s end during the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s on Saturday. However, Sri Lanka spin legend Muthiah Muralitharan slammed the India all-rounder for knocking off the bails during her delivery stride when she saw England’s Charlie Dean backing up.  It was the final England wicket to fall in a low-scoring match as India clean swept England 3-0.  Speaking from Cuttack, where he is participating in the Legends League, Muralitharan said: “What presence of mind? No cricketer would have played international matches if he or she did not have the presence of…
