Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Greece are planning to submit a tripartite bid to host FIFA World Cup in 2030. Earlier this month Egypt’s sports and youth minister Ashraf Sobhi finalised the plan with the two countries. Sobhi stressed that the ministry would build a large stadium in El Alamein to fulfil the requirements of a host nation, and to enhance the sports infrastructure in the country. If the bid is successful it will be the first time the tournament is held across three continents Europe, Africa and Asia. It is to be noted that the 2002 world cup was hosted by Japan, and South Korea was the first time the FIFA world cup was jointly hosted by two countries. “The…

Angry Pakistan fans slammed the national cricket board for announcing pacer Mohammad Hasnain as the replacement for the injured Shaheen Shah Afridi for the Asia Cup in the UAE. The 22-year-old Hasnain returned to cricket in June after remodelling his bowling action. He was suspended in February after being called by umpires during the BBL. The right-arm fast bowler has taken 17 wickets in 18 T20s and played his last T20 against the West Indies at Karachi in December 2021. Hasnain is representing the Oval Invincibles in the Hundred competition in England and will join the Pakistan team in the UAE. Meanwhile, Afridi was ruled out of the Asia Cup and also from next month’s seven-match T20 series against England…

‘Won’t Be Helpful’ ABD Cancels Rohit’s ‘Advice’ To Save ODIs & His Opinion Makes More Sense

The emergence of franchise cricket and players opting to play for their club over their country is a worrying sign for international cricket as a whole. There are three formats of the game but one that has seen a lot of dip in popularity as compared to others is One-Day Internationals.   Ever since T20 cricket arrived, it took away all the limelight from the 50-over format and with franchise leagues, where top talents come and play T20s, taking place all over the world, the demand and viewership of ODIs has taken a hit.  Australia's opening batter Usman Khawaja feels that ODI cricket is "dying a slow death"#Cricket #CricTracker #UsmanKhawaja #Australia #ODI pic.twitter.com/uTxFjtJTFS— CricTracker (@Cricketracker) July 23, 2022 The logic of…

Ind vs Zim, 3rd ODI preview: Fancied India set sights on clean sweep

Harare: A fancied Indian team is a shoo-in to complete a 3-0 ODI series sweep against a Zimbabwe side that has been struggling to put up even a semblance of a fight. Having done exceedingly well to not just turn up but trump their hapless opponents on all fronts in the preceding two matches, India will enter the third and final ODI knowing well that the script is unlikely to change at the Harare Sports Complex on Monday. This will translate to the visiting team getting yet another opportunity to carry out experimentation keeping the bigger picture in mind, i.e, next year’s ICC World Cup. Stand-in skipper KL Rahul has done quite well to keep the players motivated enough to go…

Alastair Cook hits out at England’s “zero sense” preparation before South Africa defeat

Former England captain Sir Alastair Cook has taken aim at the current schedule after Ben Stokes ‘ side were thrashed by South Africa in the first Test at Lord’s. England came into the match having played solely white-ball cricket in August, with the last round of County Championship matches ending in July before the start of The Hundred and the One-Day Cup.
