Lionel Messi sent 160 players Christmas gift – including 13 Premier League stars
Lionel Messi will be celebrating this Christmas having got his hands on the item he always wanted – the World Cup trophy. It is unlikely celebrations will have truly died down just a week after the Argentinian icon led his country to the ultimate international honour on a historic night at the Lusail Stadium. With the World Cup now on his CV, there is not really much that Messi could want for Christmas. But he has history of giving rather than receiving Christmas gifts – having provided his own small dose of festive cheer to various opponents in 2020. In the run-up to Christmas that year, Messi scored the 644th goal of his Barcelona career to eclipse Pele’s official Santos record –…

IND vs BAN: Twitter flooded with memes as Team India survive MASSIVE scare to win Test series
Team India survived a massive scare in the 2nd Test against Bangladesh at Mirpur but scraped past the finish line with Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin playing a sublime 71-run unbeaten partnership. Ashwin narrowly missed out on his fifty but he won’t mind that since he helped rescue India from the jaws of defeat. The KL Rahul-led unit began Day 4 at 45/4 having lost four wickets earlier on Day 3, it was not going to be an easy day for either side and it was Bangladesh who had the best of Indian players. They had India reeling at 74/7 but then Ashwin and Iyer stitched together their game-changing partnership. Shakib Al Hasan’s men deserve credit for putting India in…

Argentina, poll reveals the best between Messi and Maradona
Two days after Scaloni’s Albiceleste won the title of national world champion, the Argentine newspaper ‘Olè’ launched a poll to decree who between Lionel Messi and Diego Armando Maradona is the greatest of all time, following the rainbow triumph of Paris Saint-Germain’s number 30, who was also decisive in the final with a double. The poll has not yet closed but after 125 thousand votes from Argentine fans, the result now seems a foregone conclusion: in fact, Messi received as many as 47 percent of the votes, 39 percent of the fans preferred not to expose themselves, saying that the two are on the same level, while only 14 percent preferred ‘El Pibe de Oro. The verdict could still be…

Messi offered ‘$1 million’ for the bisht he wore after World Cup win
Amember of Oman’s parliament has offered Lionel Messi ‘$1 million’, or £828,000, for the bisht he wore during Argentina’s World Cup celebrations. The bisht, an Arabic robe traditionally worn for special or ceremonial occasions such as Weddings or religious festivals, was placed on Messi by the Emir of Qatar following their victory over France in the final. He then proceeded to lift the trophy while wearing the bisht, leading some fans to criticise the organisers for a perceived attempt to hijack Argentina’s moment. WHAT IS A BISHT? Umesh, Ashwin put India in driver’s seat as Bangladesh get bowled out for 227
MIRPUR: Umesh Yadav’s incisive spells with the old ball and Ravichandran Ashwin’s controlled effort put India in complete command as Bangladesh were bowled out for a below-par 227 on the opening day of the second Test here on Thursday. At stumps, India reached 19 for no loss with skipper KL Rahul batting on 3 off 30 balls in company of Shubman Gill (14 batting, 20 balls). Some of the balls bowled by Bangladeshi spinners were turning square and the decision to drop last Test’s player of the match Kuldeep Yadav is looking a controversial one. When Bangladesh batted, Umesh (4/25 in 15 overs) led the Indian pace attack manfully while Ashwin (4/71 in 21.5 overs) closed in on a career-haul of…
