Giant impact may have formed Moon within hours: Study
London: A giant impact could have formed the Moon more rapidly within hours, scientists have revealed, opening up a whole new range of possible starting places for the Moon’s evolution. \The Moon is thought to have formed following a collision 4.5 billion years ago between the young Earth and a Mars-sized object, called Theia. Most theories create the Moon by gradual accumulation of the debris from this impact. However, this has been challenged by measurements of lunar rocks showing their composition is like that of Earth’s mantle, while the impact produces debris that comes mostly from Theia. Scientists from Durham University’s Institute for Computational Cosmology in the UK used the most detailed supercomputer simulations yet to reveal an alternative explanation for the Moon’s origin,…

Musk slams PayPal’s policy to fine users over spreading misinformation
San Francisco: Digital payments company PayPal, co-founded by Elon Musk, has taken a U-turn on a controversial policy that sought to fine its users $2,500 for spreading “misinformation” on its platform. The company claimed the policy update had gone out “in error”, as Musk and former PayPal president David Marcus criticised the policy on social media. “An acceptable use policy (AUP) notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy,” the financial services company said in a statement. “Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused,” a company spokesperson told National Review. Marcus…

Apple A16 Bionic costs more than twice to manufacture compared to A15
The A16 Bionic chip in iPhone 14 Pro models costs $110 to manufacture, which is 2.4 times more than A15 chip in iPhone 14 models. A Nikkei teardown of Apple‘s iPhone 14 series models revealed that production costs jumped nearly 20 per cent from its previous iPhone generation which is an all-time high. “The company has not raised prices for its latest model in the US and some other markets, but higher production costs mean that the company’s profit margin has likely shrunk,” the report mentioned on Friday. The production of iPhone 14 Pro Max costs Apple $501, up more than $60 from iPhone 13 Pro Max. The higher production cost is reportedly due to the A16 Bionic chips in the iPhone 14…

How Parag Agrawal, Twitter employees reacted to Elon Musk’s latest offer: ‘Write the cheque bro’
Elon Musk’s latest offer to buy Twitter for $44 billion has rattled some employees of the social media platform. Musk made the offer ahead of the October 17 court hearing in which — experts claim — the Tesla chief was poised for a major setback. Experts speculate that Musk made the move in order to avoid interest or penalty in case of an adverse court ruling. Musk had offered to buy Twitter earlier this year but backed out on the deal saying the Twitter management didn’t clear the picture as to the bot accounts. Twitter sued Musk for not going through with the promised deal. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal informed the company official about Musk’s offer in an email. “We…
