Celestial wedding of Venkateshwara Swamy with Padmavati performed on grand note in Asifabad

Around 10,000 devotees belonging to several mandals of this district, neighbouring Mancherial and Maharashtra congregated at the holy place

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The annual celestial wedding of Balaji Venkateshwara Swamy with Padmavati was performed on the premises of the ancient Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple on a grand style at Gangapur village in Rebbena mandal on Monday.

Collector Venkatesh Dothre along with ASP Chittaranjan presented silk clothing to the deities on behalf of the government. They were accompanied by Bellampalli SCCL Area general manager Srinivas. They performed special prayers after the ritual. were felicitated by the priests and management of the shrine for gracing the occasion.

Around 10,000 devotees belonging to several mandals of this district, neighbouring Mancherial and Maharashtra congregated at the holy place and witnessed the glittering celestial wedding solemnized by priests of the temple. They visited the shrine and had darshan of the presiding deity by forming serpentine queue lines from early morning to late evening.

The pilgrims arrived at the holy place using different means of transportation including trolleys, vans, tractors, three wheelers. Some of them reached the temple on bullock carts. They stayed under make-shift tents. They took a holy dip in the rivulet before entering the temple. They dined under the trees.

Parking lots, temporary toilets, lighting system and first aid kiosks were created for the convenience of devotees. The temple was decorated for the festivities. TGRTC operated special buses in view of the Jatara. Security arrangements were made for avoiding untoward incidents. Policemen drawn from several police stations deployed in and around the temple.
