Hyderabad: The Temples Protection Movement (TPM) has condemned the attack on the Bhadrachalam temple Executive Officer, who had questioned illegal constructions on lands belonging to the Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam, at Purushothapatnam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
In a statement here on Thursday, TPM convenor and Chilkur Balaji temple priest CS Rangarajan said the lands belonged to the Bhadrachalam temple and were not being protected despite orders from the High Court. “The lands belonging to Sri Bhadrachala Ramulavaru are of immense spiritual and historical significance for crores of devotees across the Telugu states. It is unfortunate that when temple officials are striving to protect these lands from illegal encroachments, they are being attacked and threatened,” he said.
He urged the governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to come forward with a common resolution to protect these temple lands and resolve this sensitive issue permanently.
