China Covid peak to last 2-3 months, travellers rush to Hong Kong for vaccines
The Covid peak in China is expected to last two to three months and infections are expected to surge in rural areas. At a time when China is struggling to contain the rising Covid cases, many mainland Chinese citizens are rushing to Hong Kong to receive mRNA Covid-19 vaccines
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has for the first time noted that China is underestimating Covid deaths and has reiterated the need to share more data on its explosive Covid outbreak. The WHO has repeatedly voiced concern that China’s official statistics are not showing the true impact of its current surge in Covid cases.
