They could remove the manja from 60 trees during a three-hour-long effort. Santoshi Nair, a member of AWCS, said that still they could hardly clean 10 per cent of Indira Park. She said they would take up another clean-up drive next Sunday by involving more volunteers. The GHMC officials arranged multiple boom lift vehicles to help the volunteers remove the manja from trees. The forest department, GHMC, AWCS, and HCL foundation collaborated for the clean-up drive as the AWCS had rescued 28 birds trapped in manja during January.
Out of these 28, seven died while four of them were disabled permanently.
