Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced a cash reward of Rs.25 lakhs each to chess champions, including world third rank holder Arjun and world eleventh rank holder Harika, in recognition of their outstanding performances at the recently concluded 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, Hungary, from the 10th to the 23rd of 2024.
Both the Indian Men’s and Women’s teams made history by winning team gold medals, with Arjun also securing an additional individual gold medal for India.
The Chief Minister felicitated the chess champions at his residence here on Friday. The felicitation ceremony was graced by the presence Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and Congress MLA Nayini Rajender Reddy MLA and Government Advisor Vem Narender Reddy and others.
