A 59-year-old coal miner was killed in a hit-and-run accident while crossing NH 363 at Buradgudem in Mandamarri town, Mancherial district. Police said the victim, an employee of the KK5 underground mine, sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a speeding car.
Mancherial: A coal miner died on the spot after he was run over by a car while crossing NH 363 at Buradgudem in Mandamarri town on Sunday evening.
Police said Thota Sai Kumar, 59, a resident of the Third Zone in Mandamarri and an employee of the KK5 underground mine, sustained grievous injuries when the speeding car hit him, causing instantaneous death around 6.30 pm. The vehicle was travelling towards Mancherial from Bellampalli.
Sai Charan, son-in-law of the victim, lodged a complaint with the police. A hit-and-run case has been registered against the driver, and investigation is underway.
