Comedian Raju Srivastava’s Wife Shikha Says He ‘Fought Very Hard’, Calls Him A ‘True Fighter’

Raju Srivastava, an actor and comedian, died on Wednesday, suffering a second heart attack. Raju had been battling for his life at Delhi’s AIIMS for the last 1.5 months and was on a ventilator.

He was initially admitted to the hospital after having a heart attack while exercising at a city gym. 

The comedian actor suffered a heart attack while working on the gym treadmill last month. After learning about the unfortunate demise of Srivastava, people across the country paid their heartfelt tributes.

Shikha Srivastava, his wife, is heartbroken after his death. Shika hadn’t given up on hope and prayed for the comedian to bounce back.

Shika Srivastava spoke to Etimes and said she was praying for her husband.

Shikha shared her grief: “He fought very hard; I was really hoping and praying to see him come out of this. But, that has not happened.” 

Shikha called her late husband a ‘true fighter’ who struggled for his life for 41 days in the hospital.

The late comedian’s nephew, Kushal Srivastava, also revealed that the family was already “positive” about the actor-recovery comedian until yesterday.

Raju Srivastava’s nephew Kushal Srivastava and family friend Dr. Aneel Murarka have been regularly visiting him at AIIMS for the past two months. 

Kushal said, “He passed away due to a second cardiac arrest. We were confident till yesterday that all would be well because he had been battling it for two months.”

Srivastav has been in the entertainment industry since the 1980s and shot to fame after participating in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005.

The actor-comedian began his career by appearing in minor roles in several films, including Maine Pyar Kiya, Baazigar, Bombay to Goa, and Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya. 

The funeral of comedian Raju Srivastav, who breathed his last on Wednesday after being in the ICU for 41 days, will be held on Thursday, and the last rites will take place at Nigam Bodh Ghat here, his family confirmed.
