Condolences and tributes for the Queen poured in from around the World
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences. He took to Twitter and wrote, “It was with the heaviest of hearts that we learned of the passing of Canada’s longest-reigning Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was a constant presence in our lives and her service to Canadians will forever remain an important part of our country’s history.”
“It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. On behalf of the people, we extend sincere condolences to the @RoyalFamily, the entire United Kingdom and the Commonwealth over this irreparable loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President stated.
Scotland PM Nicola Sturgeon paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and said in a video message, “Scotland loved, respected and admired her.”
“Australian hearts go out to the people of the United Kingdom who mourn today, knowing they will feel they have lost part of what makes their nation whole,” Australian PM Anthony Albanese tweeted.
“This is a loss we all feel, for few have known a world without Queen Elizabeth II. In her seven remarkable decades on the throne, Her Majesty was a rare and reassuring constant amidst rapid change. Through the noise and tumult of the years, she embodied and exhibited a timeless decency and an enduring calm,” he said.
Former UK PM Boris Johnson termed the death of Queen Elizabeth II as the country’s saddest day. She not only modernised the constitutional monarchy but produced an heir to her throne who will amply do justice to her legacy, he said.
