Leaders in both the parties are anxious as their national leadership was taking its own time in addressing issues plaguing the State units
Hyderabad: The inordinate delay by the national leaderships of the Congress and BJP in addressing a few issues is leaving the State units of both parties restless.
Leaders in both the parties are anxious as their national leadership was taking its own time in addressing issues plaguing the State units. In the Congress unit, many MLAs have been eyeing a berth in the Cabinet, while other leaders were hoping for nominated posts. Though this exercise has been long due, the party high command for reasons better known to AICC leaders, has kept the cabinet expansion and filling up of nominated posts exercise pending for long.
Apart from leaving the aspirants anxious, the delay has also triggered caste-wise and district-wise divisions within the party. Community leaders are demanding the party high command to accommodate their leaders in the cabinet and to fill up the nominated posts.
However with different controversies troubling the Congress government, the party high command appears to be deliberately delaying a few decisions. This was even after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his cabinet colleagues were summoned to New Delhi for an emergency meeting last month.
On the other hand, the State BJP unit is also facing similar issues. The delay in finalizing the new State BJP president is widening existing differences among the party leaders in Telangana.
There was buzz in the party that this time, a BC community leader would be made the new State president. Accordingly, a few names, including those of Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender and union Minister Bandi Sanjay have been doing rounds. There are also speculations that the party might consider Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna as she belongs to the upper caste. In the wake of any uncertainty, BJP sources said the probability of party leadership inclining towards former MLC N Ramachandra Rao cannot be ruled out.
Amidst this delay, the party cadre is getting restless and difference of opinions is also flaring up in different aspects. Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh has been a classic example for this, with his harsh comments against the State leadership apart from his staying away from party programmes.
