Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Sunday that the state government had decided to submit the case on alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a detailed probe.
Speaking in the Assembly late on Sunday, the Chief Minister said the decision was taken considering the alleged irregularities identified by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) in planning, design and construction of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages, which were key components of the Kaleshwaram project.
Similarly, the Vigilance and Enforcement report and the CAG report also identified several irregularities and found fault with the previous government. The Justice PC Ghose Commission constituted by the state government also held the BRS government, agencies and a few others responsible for irregularities and misuse of public money, Revanth Reddy said after marathon debates on the Commission report, which was tabled in the House on Sunday morning.
“Considering the findings of the Justice PC Ghose Commission, the NDSA report and other reports, the government has decided to hand over the case to the CBI for probing the irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project,” Revanth Reddy said.
The Justice PC Ghose Commission submitted its report to the state government on July 31 and the state Cabinet approved the same on August 4.
After seeking the opinion of all parties on the Commission report in the Assembly, the Congress government announced its decision for a CBI probe.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar later announced that the House had been adjourned sine die.
